Alfonso Campion 1923 - 2020

Alfonso Campion, 96 years old, from Folsom,  Pennsylvania, and  most recently from Manor Care of Wallingford  Passed away on April 16,2020, at Crozier Chester Medical  Center , from Coronavirus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa  (née Muldoon), and  is
survived by his friend Mia Hughes.
Al graduated from West Philadelphia high school in 1941 and he served in the United States Navy being stationed in Connecticut. He worked for Gimbels in Upper Darby until his retirement in the mid-1980s.
Al and his wife lived in Folsom for 52 years. They had no children and no long term friends ,and as Al exclaimed “We only needed each other. “
Al loved going to the Gateway Diner in Glenolden and Tom Jones restaurant in Brookhaven for his favorite meal – poached eggs with a side of pancakes. He was a simple man who lived a simple life, enjoying watching old television shows like Gunsmoke and the Rifleman.  He loved lemon pie and Werthers candy and was always happy to share his treats at the nursing home. He could draw Mickey Mouse and was always glad to give a drawing to children who visited the nursing home.
Many thanks to the staff at Wallingford for their care, and for the doctors and nurses at Crozer Hospital, three South, for caring for him for the four days that he was hospitalized.  When he was ill, his nurse Erica stated  “We are his family, since you can’t be with him here in the hospital,” And after his passing,  his nurse, Dot, said that she held his hand and gave him words of comfort “until he flatlined.”  For that,   I am eternally grateful
Al will be cremated and then interred with his wife at Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery.
